Top Cut

The TOP CUT is a simple tool for mechanical weed control in late weeds.

Especially in heavy weed populations, the primary crop often suffers from the impact of the weeds. Cutting with the TOP CUT provides soybean, for example, with light and increases its growth potential.

Reducing Crop Competition

Reduction of competition for space, thus securing the yield and quality of the harvest.
Use in late weeds (e.g. melilot in sugar beet, thistles in cereals, velvet poplar in soya) and many other applications.
Weeds are cut off precisely above the top edge of the crop by a horizontal double blade.
The helical special reel continuously feeds weeds to the blade and cleans the cutting system.

Light for the primary crop

Cutting off weeds prevents clogging of the harvesters and lowers the moisture content. Thanks to the large reel diameter, the TOP CUT can also eliminate tall weeds and large plant volumes.

The TOP CUT is suitable for a wide variety of weeds throughout the entire vegetation period. These include velvetleafs, goosefoot, thistles, sunflowers, amaranth and grasses. Topping grassland to control herbs in an early state is also possible.

Double Knife

The double knife ensures a controlled shear cut that reliably trims both fine grasses and thick stems. The robust swing lever drive of the knife gearbox is particularly durable and long-lasting.

Reel

The brushes on the helical reel sweep the blades and ensure a continuous crop flow - even in heavily weeded areas. The reel can be positioned precisely by adjusting it vertically and horizontally.

Modular

Later upgrades are easily possible thanks to the modular design with identical components and defined interfaces. For example, the pendulum frame on the front loader or a working width module can be retrofitted.

Lightweight

At just 340 kg, the TOP CUT can be easily picked up with a front loader and is practically unlimited in its upward height adjustment. The possibility to transport it on a simple car trailer comes in handy as well.

Suits multiple crops

Thanks to its intuitive operation, the TOP CUT is ideally suited for use across farms. Equipped with an operation hours counter and the matching header transporter, the machine can be attached to common tractors with a hydraulic flow rate of only 25 L/min.

The Euro adapter frame makes it simple to attach to the front loader. Thereby, this enhances the operator‘s overview of the cut, the angle setting and the parallel and height guidance.

Getting started with top cutting weeds

ZÜRN already introduced the TOP CUT collect in 2019, an invention by the French farmer and inventor Romain Bouillé. In response to market demand and the growing interest in weed cutting, the TOP CUT was developed. The well-proven technology from the TOP CUT collect is now available in a technically less complex version and is aimed at facilitating the introduction to weed cutting.
