Double-blade front mower protects plants and wildlife

To complement our portfolio for Econventioanl Farming, we designed a new double-blade front mower that achieves perfect cuts for perfect quality forage and landscape maintenance. The stand-out feature is the cutter bar with scissor-action blades that deliver particularly clean cuts while drawing less power from the tractor than drum or disc mowers. Furthermore, the design is particularly insect-friendly and enables fast regrowth.

Clean and soil-friendly cuts

The BIO CROP 275F-PRO front mower has a pull-type parallel linkage frame that allows the cutter bar to swing swiftly up and to the rear when it impacts an obstacle. Supported by mechanical springs, this design provides a pivoting range of up to 15° for optimum contouring even in undulating terrain.

“As so often, the inspiration for developing these new front mowers came from farmers,” says Rolf Zürn, Managing Director. “We owe it to their feedback that our front mowers have a particularly strong frame that withstands the extra loads up front and offer generous clearances for tall crops. Yet, despite their sturdier build, the mowers weigh just 460kg and require only 7.5hp – which makes them ideal for attachment to smaller, lightweight tractors,” he continues. “For more operator comfort, we also integrated hydraulic cylinders into the pull-type suspension system that raise the machine hydraulically.”

The cutter bar is sourced from market leader ESM (Bidux double-blade cutting system). The hydraulic knife drive is supplied with oil by the pto powered on-board system. This allows operators to adjust blade speeds infinitely variably and set the cutting height between 4cm and 14cm via underside skids.
